STANDARD

By "standard" we don't mean common or boring. We are just talking about the technology, the standard HTML/DHTML technology, with GIF's and JPEG's.

The trend on the Internet today is focused on the information, on delivering the information quickly, on very dynamic web sites, with complex programming and database back-ends. The design for these web sites has to be very elegant and somewhat simple. The Internet users are easily bored with very colored sites, with a lot of useless animation. Most of the visitors today are looking for information. It is easy to go too far or not to go far enough when designing. Only experience can teach one where to stop. And we have learned from our mistakes.

Another issue on the net today is compatibility with most of the known browser. Something that looks perfect in MS Internet Explorer often is unintelligible when viewed with Netscape Navigator or Opera. There are steps one can take not to have this problem, and experience has taught us what they are, too.

When designing a web-site, we have to consider the type of company, products and services that it presents, what the client wants and likes, what we like and think it's appropriate, what the target audience will find appealing and what happens on the Internet at that time. We juggle them all and come up with something that will satisfy all the requirements. It's hard to please everybody, it takes talent, and experience, and we have them both.
